RE: Update from The Alexander Pandemic Preparedness Committee

Dear families, friends, residents & staff of The Alexander Aged Care Centre,

After another week of continuing strict Infection Control Practices, we remain COVID- free at The Alexander.

Victoria has unfortunately recorded high COVID-19 case numbers this week. As new information about COVID-19 comes to light, both State & Commonwealth Health Departments update their practice recommendations for health care facilities including those specifically for Residential Aged Care.

A voluntary COVID-19 Testing service will be rolled out to Victorian aged care services for both residents and staff. Testing will only be undertaken with appropriate consent.  We are waiting to be contacted with a confirmation date for The Alexander. For more information, see the following link: https://www.health.gov.au/ministers/senator-the-hon-richard-colbeck/media/additional-testing-support-for-victorian-residential-aged-care-services

We will continue to send regular updates during this challenging time.

Thank you for your ongoing support as we continue our efforts to keep The Alexander a safe place. A special thank you to our amazing staff who have adapted to the new normalities of their workday. Challenges have been taken in stride and your dedication towards keeping our residents safe & supported has not gone unnoticed.

Yours faithfully,

Jim Saisanas & Vicki Liaskos
